We’re not having a Black Friday sale this year. Or next year. Or any year after that.
As you might have guessed, at TWOOBS we don’t do Black Friday, and we don’t participate in sales in general.
Why? It’s simple. We offer you our best prices all year round, rather than hiking them up only to slash them later to coax you into buying them.
Here’s the thing: we don’t need to trick you into buying our shoes, because they’re genuinely freaking awesome. They’re comfy, they’re cool, they’re ethically made, they’ll last you a long time, and with our recycling program they’ll never end up in landfill.
And at the same time, we totally get that people are going to be shopping the Black Friday sales, because you don’t want to be paying more than you have to from brands who are going on sale.
And we also get that some smaller brands need to do Black Friday sales, in order to compete with the big guys and stay afloat.
So from a brand who isn’t doing a Black Friday sale, we want to give you our Black Fri-dos and our Black Fri-don’ts, to help you shop a little more mindfully this BFCM.
Read on for our list of tips to help you get your shopping click on minus the frenzy, and if you want to shop our shoesies at their very best price, you can do that here.
Do plan your purchases beforehand to avoid impulse buying in the moment.
Don’t buy things you don’t need or want just because they’re on sale.
Do buy from brands who aren’t going on sale too, if you genuinely love their products and their prices fit your budget.
Don’t try to spread out your budget on as many things as possible just for the sake of more.
Do buy less things that are better quality and will last you longer.
Don’t feel like you need to give people presents that you bought - put your Covid skills of drawing/painting/sewing/writing/crafting to good use.
Do make sure you’re checking that the brand has ethical production processes.
Don’t buy multiple of the same thing in different colours if you don’t really need them.
Do take a few deep breaths before checking out.
And lastly, don’t forget that an estimated 80% of everything bought during the Black Friday sales ends up in either landfill, incineration, or, at best, low quality recycling*. So don’t let your purchase become a statistic, stick to buying things you know are better (yup, like our shoes).
Good luck out there kiddies!
