Permission to be completely freaking honest with you here (permission granted, we’ll assume).
By now, you probably know that we hate discounts as much as we hate it when we find out that someone finished the oat milk without replacing it, which is, like, a lot. We hate the idea of tricking you into buying something you don’t need, and we totally hate the idea of an unwanted pair of our shoes sitting all sad and pollutey in landfill.
Which is why at TWOOBS we’ve adopted a no-discounting policy, where you can bet your cute behind that when you shop our shoes on any day of the year, you know that you’re getting the bestest quality shoes at the fairest price, while making sure the people who made your shoes and the planet are all taken good care of.
Which leads us to our current predicament, where we’ve realised that we bought too many shoes for the last season. Oops. And without a “discount strategy” to move these like other brands, we’re now paying a lot of money to store all those extra shoes, rather than making money for things like funding our next collection, building our incredible team, and developing new innovative environmental solutions. Double oops.
We once had a mentor tell us that the buyer is always wrong, meaning that even if you pull out your sparkliest crystals and consult your most trusted tarot card reader who you swear got the events leading you to break up with your ex word-for-word accurate, you’ll either undershoot or overshoot your order. If you remember back to our Cungelella Art collab, we thought we’d gotten the buy spot on, having no idea of the reception that was coming. We sold out of certain sizes in just minutes, and the whole thing was gone in an hour.
This past summer the opposite happened, when we thought were all going to be partying like it was 1999 but with really great taste in sandals, when it turned out we were all just partying like it was 2022, great taste in sandals sure, but we were also sort of but kind of not really in a pandemic and very much surrounded by natural disasters and global issues and lots of question marks looming on the future of the world. Which basically means: we’re sitting on a whole lotta extra pairs that we hadn’t planned on.
So we made a mistake. And whilst we wish we could wave a zucchini that holds magical powers over the shoes that would turn them into cash, unfortunately for us our zucchinis are just the regular old vegetable kind, so as a business we need to come up with solutions to solve the mistakes we’ve made in our buying, and to find a way to get people to buy our extra shoes in order to create more cash flow in the business. Plus side - we get to eat delicious zoodles while doing it.
So this is where the best part comes in for you oh loyal TWOOBS lover. We’re giving each and every person on our mailing list a $50 voucher, to spend on something you’re going to love. If you love TWOOBS, if you need new shoes, if there’s something you’ve had your eye on and you’ve been waiting for the right time, this is probably it!
This isn’t something we’re planning to do often, and we’re exploring options like a pre-order model in order to minimise the likelihood of this kind of thing happening in future. But for now, we just want to say thank you for your support of TWOOBS, for helping us to attempt to save the planet (but make it fashion!) and know that every pair of shoes that you buy from us is helping to make the fashion industry a more kind, thoughtful, planet-friendly place.
Happy shopping shoe (& Earth) lovers.
